Sonya graduated from the University of Sydney in 2004 and spent a couple of years in general practice before joining the Animal Referral Hospital as a small animal medicine intern. Upon its completion, she stayed on as an emergency vet until motherhood compelled her to look for a day job, and she joined the ARH oncology team as a resident in 2016. She passed her ANZCVS oncology fellowship exams late 2020 and remains at ARH as an oncologist.
