Skin and Ear Cytology & Culture TimeOnline
This course will focus on maximising yield from skin and ear canal cytology sampling, to enable targeted and effective treatment plans for otitis and inflammatory or infectious skin diseases.

Optimal sample collection and processing techniques will be detailed, together with basic principles of when different tests are indicated. Accurate interpretation of samples will be an important focus, with a wide range of cytology images provided that become a valuable clinical resource. Optimal treatment choices, based on cytology findings, will be outlined for otitis and common secondary and primary skin infections. Finally, a series of cases will be presented to reinforce the material covered. Participants will be encouraged to practice skin cytology and culture techniques on their own cases throughout the course and can present findings to the tutor for evaluation and/or to the group for discussion.

Past Participant:

I have overlooked cytology in the past, sending most samples away to external labs. I now have the framework to do more in house and I believe that the cost of the course will be reimbursed very quickly by the fees generated from the increased knowledge. More importantly my patients will get much more targeted treatment protocols.
Marc Pilkington, The Gables Vet Group, Canberra, 2018

Thoroughly enjoyed the ear and skin cytology course! It addressed a lot of my clinical dilemmas and gave me the confidence to better approach my dermatology cases. Overall, I feel that my decision-making process for treating both routine and difficult cases has improved incredibly!
