'Lessons I’ve Learnt From Mistakes in Practice' WebinarLIVE!

To err is to be human (Alexander Pope, 1711) – it is normal for people to make mistakes.

Most senior veterinarians will say they are a better clinician because of the mistakes they have made. Many of us however feel ashamed or self-conscious about sharing these stories. Join Terry King, a veterinarian with decades of experience, as he presents a potpourri of tips and hints learned - mostly the hard way, which helped shape his approach to small animal practice.

Myths, folklore – and the evidence base - will be explored on topics such as

  • when to use steroids and when not to use NSAIDs.
  • How to avoid the negative laparotomy.
  • When the type of fluid therapy doesn’t matter, and when the route does.
  • Which imaging is better for which, and when to use them synergistically, for example, the value of chest radiographs in the ill geriatric.
  • Is the respiratory distress kitty cardiac or respiratory?

Equally important is Proverb 17:22 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones” interpreted by Robert M Miller (DVM) as ‘Laughter is good veterinary medicine – don’t take yourself too seriously’.
