Innes graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2002. After working in emergency medicine in Australia and overseas, she started specialising in anaesthesia in 2006 at the University of Melbourne. Innes completed her ECVAA accredited residency at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, England in 2012. Since then, Innes has worked as a clinical anaesthetist, clinical researcher and pain management consultant at the University of Cambridge, James Cook University and currently at the Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Her areas of interest are acute and chronic pain management in all species, critical care and anaesthesia, and ventilation.
