If you are time poor but need an intensive boost to help you gain more confidence with your imaging, here’s your chance to make it happen! Let Dr Karon Hoffmann work with you in an intensive, immersive 4-day course on Diagnostic Ultrasound. A visual discipline, Dr Karon Hoffmann has thoughtfully designed a program that will enhance your capacity to “think visually” so you can gain confidence and improve your scanning technique.

NOTE: Please note Wednesday 30th September 2020 is a leisure day.

Karon’s program offers you essential foundational knowledge through her comprehensive theory sessions, complemented by hands on learning techniques such as kidney dissection and plasticine modelling of organs.

On days two and four you will be able to put what you have learned in the classroom straight in to practice as you hone your skills scanning live patients under the guidance of your expert tutors. At the CVE we follow strict ethical guidelines so scanning sessions with each dog are timed appropriately to ensure the animals in our care are comfortable and have a positive experience.

Karon is known Australia-wide as the ‘go to’ person for ultrasound as well as being a European Boarded Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. She will instruct and give you personal and immediate feedback on your scanning, and teach you tips and tricks that will make a huge difference when you get back to your practice. This course is designed for those ready to achieve a new level of competency in this widely applied discipline.

Karon Hoffmann developed her enthusiasm for diagnostic imaging early during her veterinary career as a large animal internist. Since that time she has pursued both research and clinical expertise in the discipline and has earned both a Master’s degree and PhD in Diagnostic Imaging. Karon has published over 40 scientific articles. She has represented the profession in many roles, including as President of the Australasian Association of Veterinary Imaging and been an invited speaker at many conferences. Karon was a worthy recipient of the CVE Hungerford Award for her holistic contribution to research, teaching and clinical scholarship in large and small animal sonology. Karon is a Diplomate of the European College of Diagnostic Imaging. Karon uses the synergistic nature of routine and advanced diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures to help in the diagnosis and treatment of many complex clinical cases.

Annie Rose is a graduate from The University of Queensland. Annie first worked in small animal practice followed by an internship at the University of Melbourne, where her interest in Diagnostic Imaging began. She then worked in the radiology section at The University of Queensland Small Animal Clinic for nearly 15 years, in both a teaching and clinical capacity. During this time she also enjoyed the opportunity to work overseas at The Ohio State University and The Animal Health Trust. Annie then completed a Masters degree and residency program at the University of Melbourne, and has now returned to The University of Queensland to work as a Diagnostic Imaging specialist. Annie has developed a strong interest in clinical teaching and has been teaching abdominal ultrasound for over a decade to veterinary students and practitioners.
