Ellie Leister

Ellie Leister is the Director of Pet ICU in Brisbane. In 2004, Ellie commenced 4 years in mixed practice in country NSW before passing her ANZCVS membership exams and moving to England, where she turned into a small animal vet and developed her passion for emergency and critical care. In 2011 she returned from England and in 2012 started working at VSS in Brisbane where she developed an interest in managing tick and snake envenomation and pursued several lines of research throughout her residency program, which she completed between 2015 and 2017. She has produced numerous publications, including the largest ever case series to date in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. She manages a team of 16 people at the PICU which is known nationally as one of the most well run and busiest critical care centres in the country. It manages very complex cardiology, oncology, medical and surgical cases as well as everyday emergencies. Ellie shares her home with 3 cats and her dog. On days off she revels in domesticated bliss, studying or hiking.
