Terms of use

The site at cve.edu.au ("Site") is a website where you can browse, select and apply to enrol in courses conducted by The Centre for Veterinary Education, of the The University of Sydney (ABN 15 211 513 464) ("we", "us" or "our") at Centre for Veterinary Education ("CVE"), and order incidental products and services from us.

Terms

The terms and conditions set out in this document ("Terms") govern your access to, and use of, the Site, as well as any application for enrolment, or order of products or services, you lodge through the Site or over the telephone by calling 02 9351 7979 or by completing and sending an application form by post or fax or by enrolling in person.

We may vary these Terms, for any reason, at any time and without notice.

If you browse the Site, or proceed with an enrolment application or order to purchase products or services (whether through the Site or by telephone, post, fax or in person), you are deemed to have accepted the Terms and agreed to comply at all times, including during your enrolment (if any) with all applicable laws in connection with the use of the Site, and your application or order, and with our by-laws, rules, policies and procedures, and that you are responsible for informing yourself of the requirements applicable to you under such by-laws, rules, policies and procedures.

Fees and charges

We will charge you, and you agree to pay, the purchase price of the course you apply for, or product or service you order, as advertised on the Site at the time of your application or order, and any other fees and charges set out in these Terms.

All fees and charges identified in these Terms and all prices for the courses, products and services include GST where applicable.
We may vary prices for courses, events, products and services from time to time without notice. Subject to these terms and conditions, we will not increase the amount payable by you for the relevant courses, events, products or services once we have accepted your application or order.

Price changes

The CVE may change the prices charged for courses or events from time to time. If you are registered in a course or event and wish to transfer to the same course or event at a later date and the price has increased, you will be required to pay the additional registration fee.

Payment methods

Payments to the CVE are made online once you proceed to the shopping cart. Please note, payments can only be made by credit card using Visa or MasterCard. We do not accept Diners or American Express.

For payments by Visa or MasterCard, you authorise us to debit the amount that is payable for your application or order from your nominated card account. 

We will provide you with a receipt promptly after we receive your application or order which specifies the total fees and charges for the courses, events, products and services.


Distance Education

Prerequisite

You must be a qualified veterinarian to enrol in DE courses.

Payments and discounts

If you wish to register to secure a place in a Distance Education program you will be required to pay a $1,000 non-refundable deposit.

Full payment must be made 10 working days prior to the course commencement date.

If you would like to request a Pay as You Learn payment plan, you must contact us on +61 2 9351 7979 or email [email protected]

Approved payment plans must be finalised 10 working days prior to the course commencement date.

Pay as you learn payment plan will:

  • incur an additional AU$250 administration fee; 
  • be approved on a case by case basis provided that 50% of the total course fees are paid at least 10 business days prior to the course commencement date; and
  • incur a $50 dishonour fee if scheduled payment defaults at second attempt (7 days after the initial attempt). If unsuccessful, 24h later a 3rd attempt will be made to secure payment. If this attempt is also unsuccessful, another $50 dishonour fee will be charged, and access to your course materials will be restricted until resolved.

Super early bird and early bird discount rates are available to CVE Members who register and pay in full by the end of an early bird period. Information about early bird periods can be found on each course information page at www.cve.edu.au/distanceeducation .

Loyalty discount
If you have completed 2 or more (or all 3 Diagnostic Imaging, Dermatology or Anaesthesia & Analgesia) Distance Education courses in the previous 5 years, you are eligible for a 10% discount on the next Distance Education course/s.

You also qualify for a 10% discount on registration fees for CVE Conferences, Seminars and TimeOnline courses while participating and within 12 months of completion of the Distance Education course.

CVE Member discount
CVE Members (excluding eMembers and student members) will qualify for discounted member rates on Distance Education courses. For further information, please visit www.cve.edu.au/membership

Important things you need to know:

  • discounts must be claimed at the time of purchase;
  • loyalty discounts cannot be claimed online – contact us via email [email protected] or call us on +61 2 9351 7979 to claim your discount; and
  • discounts are non-transferrable to other people.

Cancellations by you

If you cancel your enrolment up to 10 business days before your course commencement date, we will refund the course fees minus the AUD$1,000 non-refundable deposit.

If you cancel your enrolment for any reason less than 10 business days prior to the commencement of your course, there will be no refund.

If you cancel within 24 hours of your payment, we will refund the amount paid at this time.

Cancellation by CVE

CVE may change or cancel Distance Education courses at any time. If we cancel, CVE will endeavor to notify you as soon as possible. CVE will not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of cancellation or change, including travel or other costs incurred. Please visit the CVE website for the latest course information.

In the event CVE cancels a course, you will receive a full refund or credit for the course fees paid.

Cancellation of course before commencement

If we cancel the course on or before its scheduled commencement date, we will cancel your enrolment. If we have already received your payment, we will promptly either offer you a credit note, or, at your request, return, or refund in full, your payment.

Deferral

In certain circumstances, you may be able to defer your course.

Any request for deferral of a Distance Education course must be approved by the CVE Management (at their discretion).

A deferral will only be considered in the following circumstances:     

  • extenuating circumstances (for which you can provide appropriate documentation);
  • where the course fees have been paid in full; and
  • upon receipt by CVE of the AU$1,000 deferral fee.

If your request for a deferral is approved you will be placed into the following year’s equivalent course.  Enrolment will be subject to the availability of spaces in the next year’s course.

RACE approved courses

Several Distance Education courses are RACE approved. Please note, it is a condition of RACE accreditation that if requested, the CVE must provide the names and addresses of participants to the AAVSB.


TimeOnline

Payments and discounts

If you wish to register for a TimeOnline course, you are required to pay the course fees in full at the time of registration.
You may be eligible for a 10% discount at the time of registration for a CVE TimeOnline course if you satisfy the following:

  • you have completed a Distance Education course in the last 12 months OR are currently participating in a Distance Education course; or
  • you have participated in other CVE TimeOnline courses or CVE Events (including Conferences, Seminars and Workshops) in the last 12 months.

CVE Members other than CVE eMembers qualify for discounted member rates on TimeOnline courses. For further information, please visit www.cve.edu.au/membership

Credit notes must be used within 12 months from the date they are issued. Cancellations by CVE

CVE may change or cancel TimeOnline courses at any time. If we cancel, CVE will endeavor to update you as soon as possible. CVE will not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of cancellation or change, including travel or other costs incurred. Please visit the CVE website for the latest course information.

In the event that the cancellation is made by the CVE, all participants will receive a full refund or credit for the course fees paid.

Failure to attend a course

If you fail to participate in your scheduled TimeOnline course, the course fee is not refundable nor will a credit note be provided.

RACE approved courses

Several TimeOnline courses are RACE approved. Please note, it is a condition of RACE accreditation that if requested, the CVE must provide the names and addresses of participants to the AAVSB.


Events (Conferences, Seminars & Workshops)

Payments and discounts

All events must be paid for in full at the time of registration.
You may be eligible for a 10% discount at the time of registration for CVE Conferences and Seminars (excluding Workshops) if you satisfy the following:

  • you have completed a Distance Education course in the last 12 months OR are currently participating in a Distance Education course; or
  • you have participated in other CVE Events (including Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, TimeOnline courses) in the last 12 months.
  • If you pay for two attendees at the same CVE event, payment for any additional attendees thereafter will be subject to a 10% discount of the applicable fee.
  • Discounts are not cumulative – only one discount will apply per event.
  • If you are a not-for-profit organisation please contact the CVE on +61 2 9351 7979 or [email protected] for details of how to obtain a 10% discount.

Exclusions and special items:

  • discounts must be claimed at the time of purchase;
  • discounts cannot be claimed online – contact us via email [email protected] or call us on 9351 7979 to claim your discount; and
  • discounts are non-transferrable to other people.
  • due to the high costs involved in running the Practical Ultrasound - Intensive Short Course discounts will not be offered for this course.

Cancellations and refunds - Conference and Seminar

If you cancel your registration for any reason up to 10 business days before the scheduled event date, we will refund 80% of the fees.

If you cancel your registration for any reason within less than 10 business days prior to the scheduled event but more than 5 days before the event, we will refund 50% of the fees.

If you cancel your registration less than 5 business days prior to the scheduled event, there will be no refund.

In the event of a registrant being unable to attend due to illness, the CVE may, at its discretion, issue a credit note for the registration fees. Please note the CVE is unable to reimburse travel-associated costs and suggests carefully reviewing provider terms and conditions prior to booking.

You may request a credit note instead of a refund if you have cancelled more than 5 business days prior to the scheduled seminar or conference. In the event you elect a credit note, the cancellation fees will be waived and the credit note will be issued for the full amount of the course fee. Credit notes must be used within 12 months from the date they are issued. Cancellations and refunds - Workshop

If you cancel your registration for any reason more than 20 business days prior to the scheduled workshop, we will refund 80% of the fees.

If you cancel your registration 20 business days or less, prior to the scheduled workshop, there will be no refund.

In the event of a registrant being unable to attend due to illness, the CVE may, at its discretion, issue a credit note for the registration fees. Please note the CVE is unable to reimburse travel-associated costs and suggests carefully reviewing provider terms and conditions prior to booking.

You may request a credit note instead of a refund if you have cancelled more than 20 business days prior to the scheduled workshop. In the event you elect a credit note, the cancellation fees will be waived and the credit note will be issued for the full amount of the course fee. Credit notes must be used within 12 months from the date they are issued.  To apply for a credit note or for more information please contact Customer Service on +61 2 9351 7979 or email [email protected].

Cancellations by the CVE

CVE may change or cancel Conferences, Seminars and Workshops at any time. In the event of a cancellation, CVE will endeavor to notify you as soon as possible. CVE will not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of cancellation or change, including travel or other costs incurred. Please visit the CVE website for the latest course information.

In the event CVE cancels an event, you will receive a full refund or credit for the course fees paid.

Transfers

If you are unable to attend your event you may transfer your registration to another participant, event, conference, seminar or workshop subject to the following terms and conditions:

  • Transfer of participants can be done up until the event date – this may incur additional fees.
  • Transfer to another event can be done up until 4 weeks prior to any conference, seminar or workshop.
  • All transfer types listed above will incur a $50 administrative fee.
  • Requests for transfers must be made in writing to the CVE at [email protected] or by calling +61 9351 7979.

Failure to attend an event

If you fail to attend your event, the payment is not refundable nor will a credit note be provided.


VetBookshop

Payments and discounts

All VetBookshop orders must be paid in full at the time of purchase.

All CVE Members are eligible for a 25% discount off VetBookshop titles unless stated otherwise.

If the product you ordered is out of stock you will be contacted to be advised of the options available to you.

All CVE Members are eligible for a 25% discount off Wiley-Blackwell veterinary publications, and a 10% discount off Elsevier veterinary publications. To claim CVE member rates for these publications, members must use the special promo code provided by CVE. The promo codes for both Wiley-Blackwell and Elsevier can be obtained from the VetBookshop welcome page (www.cve.edu.au/vetbookshop ) once you are logged in, or you can contact the CVE Customer Service Team on +61 2 9351 7979.

Cancellations and refunds

If your order has not yet been despatched we will immediately cancel delivery and arrange a full refund. If your order has already been despatched, please follow our Returns process set out below.

Returns

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it to us in its original condition, accompanied by the tax invoice for a complete refund, within 14 days of receipt. This refund will cover the initial cost of the items purchased excluding the postage/delivery fee. Customers will also be liable for any postage/delivery charges incurred on returning the product/s to us. If the item/s returned are not received in their original condition, i.e. they are returned incomplete or damaged, a refund will not be issued.

If the item is damaged when it reaches you or we have supplied you with the incorrect product, please contact the CVE customer service team on [email protected] or call +61 2 9351 7979 to arrange a replacement. Please allow 10 business days for a replacement to be despatched.

eBooks and other digital products cannot be returned or exchanged after purchase unless faulty.

Delivery options and prices

Stocked items are shipped within 24 hours of receiving the order.

Membership

Payments and discounts

Annual CVE Membership fees must be paid in full twelve months in advance from the time of joining.

Membership discounts and entitlements are non-transferrable.

Recent Graduate Membership is available only to veterinarians in the first three years following graduation. Copy of graduation certificate will be required at the time of registration.

Practice Membership is available to vets and support staff who work at the same practice location. For group practices, Practice Membership must be purchased for each practice location.

Part-Time Professional Membership is available only to veterinarians who work 20 hours or less per week. Documentation of employment arrangements will be required at the time of registration.

FREE Student Membership is available to anyone currently studying full-time for a veterinary degree (Undergrad or Postgrad) under a faculty or school of veterinary science at any University. Confirmation of enrolment will be required at the time of registration.

FREE Academic membership is available to veterinary professionals employed at any University in a teaching or research role.

Once paid your annual membership cannot be changed before expiry. To change membership types you must purchase a new membership.

Cancellations and refunds

There are no refunds or transfers for annual membership fees.


Privacy Policy

The information supplied to the Centre for Veterinary Education is required to manage your enrolment and participation. The Centre for Veterinary Education will also use the information to notify you of future events. No personal information will be disclosed outside the Centre for Veterinary Education without your expressed consent, except where required by law.

Participants in CVE courses must abide by the University’s ICT user policies found here

Please note that:

  • Users must not use the University’s ICT Resources to collect, use or disclose personal information in ways that breach the University’s Privacy Policy.
  • Users must respect and protect the privacy of others.
