Philip graduated from the University of Sydney in 1986 and has worked in private and University practice in Australia, the UK and the USA. Philip was a founding partner of Veterinary Specialist Services in Brisbane in 2000 and registered as a Small Animal Surgical Specialist in 2003. Appointed Adjunct Professor with the University of Queensland. Surgical interests include brachycephalic airway syndrome, spinal anomalies particularly of brachycephalic dogs, spinal surgery – especially IVDD in chondrodystropic dogs, reconstructive surgery as well as all aspects of soft tissue, neurological and orthopaedic surgery. For the last 20 years Philip has lectured widely in Australia, North America and South East Asia to help promote and improve animal care and welfare. One of his key interests is promoting the welfare of Brachycephalic dogs including advocating changes to improve these breeds. Philip is the father of six beautiful children, an owner of Pugs, Dachshunds and Burmese cats and a devoted, if tragic, supporter of the Queensland Reds and the Wallabies.
