Dr Andrea Harvey graduated from University of Bristol, UK in 2000, and became an ECVIM diplomate and RCVS Specialist in Feline Medicine in 2005. She spent a further 10 years in small animal medicine referral practice in academia and private practice both in the UK and Australia. Andrea worked closely during that time with the International Society of Feline Medicine, particularly in developing the Cat Friendly Clinic scheme. She has lectured internationally and published widely in feline internal medicine. She then decided to pursue another passion, and has recently completed a PhD in animal welfare science and behavioural ecology of wild horses, in addition to setting up a wild horse sanctuary and sitting on government advisory panels for wild horse management. She also gained ANZCVS Memberships in Animal Welfare in 2016. Andrea is passionate about incorporating animal welfare science into all aspects of veterinary practice to empower veterinarians to have the confidence that their decision making is always aimed at achieving the best welfare outcomes for their patients.
