Mastering Otitis: practical diagnosis and treatment in general practice, complete with a hands-on Video Otoscopy Workshop.
Chronic and recurrent otitis externa is one of the most frustrating and time-consuming problems in small-animal practice. The unique anatomy and physical properties of the ear canal often limit the effectiveness of standard dermatological treatments, leading to persistent inflammation, poor response to therapy, and repeated visits that strain both client and clinician.
Led by specialist veterinary dermatologists, this course gives you a clear, practical framework for diagnosing and managing otitis more effectively in general practice. You’ll deepen your understanding of the underlying causes, learn how to select and interpret appropriate diagnostics, and develop evidence-based strategies for treating both acute and chronic presentations.
A highlight of the program is the interactive video otoscopy workshop, where you’ll gain small-group, hands-on experience in ear canal examination, flushing techniques, and performing myringotomies using an ear canal model. Case-based discussions further strengthen your ability to choose the right medical interventions, manage canal narrowing, and prevent recurrence.
Whether you’re new to video otoscopy or keen to refine your skills, you’ll leave with practical techniques and renewed confidence in managing otitis cases in everyday practice.
